News

The Bulldog Club of Greater San Diego meets at our annual events about six times a year. Non-members are welcome to join us and see what BCGSD is all about. Committees working on rescue, shows, events, and other projects meet and work throughout the year. Members stay in touch with each other through the BCGSD newsletter which is published six times a year.

 Meet the Breed

A special thanks to all who participated in our “Meet the Breed” event at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. It was a great success. There were many visitors at the booth who were able to enjoy the interaction with Club members and who are now better informed about the Bulldog breed and the Club. I think all who participated had a wonderful time.

Spring Party

Our annual Spring party was a great success with over 40 bullies and their owners in attendance. A special thanks to Sarah Grant and her staff for organizing the event and to the Jamie Kimball family for the great barbeque meal. Thank you all for supporting the Rescue auction. Pictures of the event are posted on our “Photos” link.

February 2008 – Meet the Breed

As part of the Silver Bay Kennel Dog Show the Club was able to staff a booth on both Saturday and Sunday and meet with interested spectators to share information on the Club and the Bulldog breed. The weather was good and we had a lot of visitors who are now better informed and have made new friends with members of the Club. A special thanks to all who participated and made the booth a great success.

October 2007 - BCGSD Halloween Party

The 2007 Halloween gathering took place at Woodglen Park in Santee. The weather cooperated by being nice enough for shorts, but still cool enough for the bullies - and the abundant shade at the park helped too! We had an incredible bulldog costume contest with some great entrants and prizes to the "Top Dogs". There was also an Obedience OA Match for our bullies to participate in.

August 2007 - BCGSD Summer Picnic

The BCGSD Summer Picnic was held this year at Dusty Rhodes Park. BCGSD members and guests gathered to enjoy some quality time with other bullies and their people, as well as some delicious food - including barbecued burgers, hot dogs, and all the fixins! Bulldog Rescue had baked goods for sale, as well as items for the silent and live auctions. All present enjoyed themselves and a few passersby were heard to say "I've never seen so many of those in one place before!" (We hope they were talking about the bullies)

June 2007 - Bulldog Club Booth at the San Diego County Fair

At this year's San Diego County fair the rescue groups exhibited separately, so BCGSD had a day all to ourselves. The booth was busy all day with people stopping by to pet the bullies and ask breed specific questions.
Special thanks to all the booth volunteers:
Deb and John Shoemaker, Tom and Elsa White, Ellen and Jeff Fuller, Andy and Michell Sydoriak, Jane Boehrer, Marie Weir, Geri Dimeglio, and Sarah Grant (If I forgot anyone I apologize!)
And a HUGE thanks to all our bulldog volunteers - they were all well behaved and left the visitors with a great impression!

May 2007 - Bully Ball Bulldog Club Specialty Show

A number of club members exhibited their dogs at the Bully Ball, including Andre Barlow, Jamie Kimball, Thomas White and Diana Zarate.
Placement was:
Diane Zarate and “Geremia’s Jade Princess” 4th place in the puppy 6 to 9 month class
Tom White and “DK’s Miss CE CE Rider” 3rd place in Bulldog Open Bitches
Jamie Kimball and “Kimbulls Cool Dude Recommissioned” 1st place finish in the Bulldogs 12 to 18 months category
The Best of Breed was won by CH Newcomb’s Coastbull Atlas owned by Brenda & Link Newcomb and Micah Leslie.
Congratulations to all the competitors!!!!

Special thanks go out to the following club members who provided assistance:
Geri Dimeglio for serving as the Ring Steward
Janice Hochstetler at the hospitality table
Kasey Kimball for providing the goodie bags
Thomas and Elsa White for the beautiful trophies
