Rescue is very expensive for any organization and although much of our housing and medical costs are met by donations from Bulldog club members, we do charge an adoption fee based on the age and condition of the individual dog. These fees enable our small program to continue rescuing Bulldogs, caring for their medical needs, and maintain them until permanent, loving homes can be found.
Rescue committee volunteers review all applications and each is evaluated for appropriateness for a particular Bulldog. Rejections are not arbitrary or punitive; the members of SDBR assume lifetime responsibility in lieu of the dog’s breeder and wish to reduce as much as possible the repeated loss of owners and homes. We will ask to make a home inspection, sometimes with the Bulldog in attendance, to evaluate his/her interaction with the family, including any other pets living there. Sometimes matching bulldogs with the right homes takes months and we do keep rescue applications on file for one year.
We have no control over the number of dogs or when we get them so please be patient. After placement, SDBR is always available for support and assistance.
SDBR enjoys a close relationship with the Bulldog Club of Greater San Diego and is affiliated with the Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network.
We encourage those residing within San Diego County, who wish to adopt, to complete the SDBR Adoption Application on this web site.
